The College Board’s AP (Advanced Placement) classes allow students to participate in rigorous college-level classes and earn college credit. AP credits can be transferred to most colleges and universities in the country.
In Newman’s Secondary English department, two AP classes are offered: AP Language and Composition and AP Literature and Composition. Students scoring high enough on their respective AP Exams can fulfill college requirements for basic English classes: 1301, 1302, 2301, and 2302. During the 2023-2024 school year, 16 of our students (both juniors and seniors) earned college credit by passing the AP Exam with scores of “3” or higher (on a 5- point scale).
