At Newman International Academy, we are proud to offer a wide range of academic
programs designed to prepare our students for higher education and successful careers.
Our commitment to academic excellence and holistic development is reflected in the
various initiatives we offer, helping students achieve their full potential and thrive in today’s
competitive world.
Dual Credit Opportunities: A Head Start in Higher Education
We offer an array of dual credit courses that allow our students to earn college credits and
even attain an associate’s degree before graduating from high school. This valuable
opportunity helps students get a jumpstart on their college journey and strengthens their
high school experience with college-level coursework. Through these courses, students
can explore college curricula, experience the demands of higher education, and
significantly reduce future college tuition costs.
Our dual credit program is supported by prestigious partnerships with respected
institutions such as Dallas College, Tarrant County College, University of Texas at Arlington,
McMurry University, and Dallas Baptist University. These partnerships ensure that our
students have access to a diverse range of courses that align with their academic goals and
career aspirations. Our expert faculty and academic advisors are dedicated to guiding
students through course selection and enrollment, helping them choose classes that best
align with their individual career paths.
Thanks to recent legislation, students can participate in dual credit courses with Tarrant
County College and Dallas College free of charge, making this opportunity accessible to all
students, regardless of financial background.
College Preparation: Connecting Students with Their Future
At Newman International Academy, we are committed to equipping students with the tools
they need for success in higher education and beyond. Our school offers Advanced
Placement (AP) courses in subjects such as English, calculus, and precalculus, enhancing
students' academic skills and providing the opportunity to earn college credit.
Recognizing the importance of standardized testing, we support students in preparing for
the ACT, SAT, and TSIA2 exams, providing on-campus access to these tests and offering
tailored resources to help students perform at their best. We also prioritize personalized
action planning, ensuring each student sets and achieves their academic and career goals.
In addition to our academic support, Newman hosts two annual college fairs, where
students can interact with college admissions representatives and learn more about
various academic programs. To further assist students in exploring college options, we
organize college tours, giving them a firsthand look at potential campuses. Understanding
the importance of financial planning, we also provide dedicated assistance in scholarship
searches and college selection, helping students navigate financial challenges and access
higher education opportunities.
The Newman International Academy Class of 2024 earned over $2 million in scholarships,
with 91 students accepted into colleges. Many are pursuing four-year degrees, while others
are taking alternative paths such as military service and trade schools.
Career Exploration: Bridging the Gap Between Academics and Real-World Careers
Newman International Academy is dedicated to helping students explore career pathways
through our Career Exploration program. One of our key initiatives is the Career
Symposium, an event where students interact with professionals across various fields,
attend workshops, and gain valuable insights into the job market.
Additionally, our robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) program allows students to
earn industry certifications in high-demand fields, including Python programming, Adobe
software, AutoCAD, and Entrepreneurship. These certifications not only strengthen
students' college applications, but also provide practical skills that are highly valued in the
workforce.
Our diverse range of CTE programs, including Graphic Design, Engineering, Law
Enforcement, Health Science, Computer Science, and the newly introduced Animal
Science program, ensures students can pursue their passions while gaining a competitive
edge in their chosen career fields.
Workforce in Training at Newman (WIN) Program: Real-World Experience
Our Workforce in Training at Newman (WIN) program is an essential component of our
students' education. Designed to provide practical, hands-on experience, this program
requires students to complete 120 hours of community service and vocational work
experience in school-approved institutions. This real-world experience helps students
explore career paths, develop essential skills, and gain insights into the professional world.
As part of the WIN program, students have access to volunteer opportunities that
encourage civic engagement and provide exposure to different community stakeholders.
These experiences foster a sense of social responsibility and prepare students for future
leadership roles.
Military Readiness: Preparing Students for Service and Leadership
Newman currently partners with Valley Forge Military Academy (VFMAC) to encourage students to consider a military career and officer training. In addition, Newman seniors are able to participate cost-free in Warrior Week, an annual, one-week training in military, police, and security activities -- a perfect preparation for students who are interested in advancing into military careers. Self defense is encouraged and taught in many campuses. Students participate in Civil Air Patrol (CAP), an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. JROTC or National Cadet Program may soon be a part of our military readiness program!
Newman International Academy is proud to offer military readiness programs for students
interested in pursuing careers in the military. We partner with Valley Forge Military Academy
(VFMAC) to provide students with opportunities for military officer training and support.
Additionally, Warrior Week, an annual training event, offers students an immersive oneweek experience in military, police, and security activities, preparing them for future
careers in the armed forces or law enforcement.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), the official
auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. This volunteer organization provides a wide range of
activities, from aviation training to emergency response and community service efforts,
offering valuable leadership and development opportunities for future military and civilian
careers.
At Newman International Academy, we provide a comprehensive education that blends
academic rigor with career exploration, practical experience, and military readiness,
ensuring our students are well-prepared for their future endeavors. With programs
designed to foster academic success, career development, and community engagement,
