MEET THE CHIEF OF POLICE
Chief Matthew Antkowiak, CPP, PCI, PSP, has 31+ years of combined public safety and service experience. He served as an army infantry officer, firefighter, EMT, police officer, police investigator, police supervisor, police administrator, and security professional. He honorably retired from law enforcement in May 2020 at the command rank of Assistant Chief of Police for the Oak Ridge Police Department in Texas. During his service to the City of Oak Ridge, Chief Antkowiak was a Task Force Officer/Investigator assigned to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, serving on the Homeland Security Investigations on the North Texas Human Trafficking Task Force. During his service to the City of Dallas Police Department, Chief Antkowiak was a sworn Special U.S. Deputy Marshall assigned to the United States Secret Service Task Force. Chief Antkowiak holds a U.S. government Top-Secret security clearance.
Chief Antkowiak is board certified in Management (CPP), Investigations (PCI), and Physical Security (PSP). Chief Antkowiak graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors) with a 4.0 GPA from the American Military University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. Chief Antkowiak is certified as a Texas Master Peace Officer awarded on 1/22/2018 licensed by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE PID # 357451), is certified as a School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) Police Officer awarded by TCOLE on 7/30/2018 and completed the TCOLE basic police officer training requirements at the Dallas Police Academy on 2/19/2008. In 1999, Chief Antkowiak completed the Oklahoma State Police Academy, served as a police officer, and awarded Advanced Police Officer certification by the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) for the City of Moore, Oklahoma. Chief Antkowiak completed the Oklahoma City Fire Academy in 1996 and served as a firefighter, EMT, and rescue technician for three years. Chief Antkowiak completed the United States Army Military Police Academy in 1990 and served as military police officer for eight years prior to transitioning to civilian life. Chief Antkowiak is also certified and licensed by the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Government Commissioned Security Officer as well as a licensed qualified manager (Security Chief). Chief Antkowiak has completed over 6,500 hours of professional development training. Chief Antkowiak also serves as the Director of Security for Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas.
