Recent research shows that berries provide a brain boost. Eating berries first thing in the morning, improves brain function for the rest of the day. Berries, such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries or blackberries, contain flavonoids called anthocyanidins. These important flavonoids are important in protecting neurons and helping to stimulate neuronal regeneration, as well as decreasing oxidative and inflammatory stress. They are a big contributor to our cognitive performance. Berries not only have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, but also antibacterial, antihypertensive, and cardioprotective properties. These are helpful during high stress times and cold’n’flu season. Just one cup a day has measurable improvements on our health.
